Pre-A1 Starters is the first of three Cambridge English Qualifications designed for young learners (6-12 years). These tests introduce children to everyday written and spoken English and are an excellent way for them to gain confidence and improve their English. The tests are written around familiar topics and focus on the skills needed to communicate effectively in English through listening, speaking, reading and writing. The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) level is pre-A1.
The exam is made of 3 papers: Listening (approximately 20 minutes), Reading and Writing (20 minutes) and Speaking (3 – 5 minutes).
As a result of the examination, all children, regardless of the outcome, receive a Cambridge Assessment English certificate. It has an attractive design. The result is expressed in shields (maximum of 15; 5 shields per paper).
