“Developing Writing Skills and Assessment”

Description: Writing is a subject that few enjoy teaching and even fewer enjoy learning. Usually, this disdain for writing is deeply rooted in the students general lack of understanding of how to effectively write academically and a lack of motivation for writing. In this workshop, we will look at various techniques we can use in our classes to help motivate our students to effectively construct a piece of writing for Cambridge Exams, referring to how these techniques help in the formal assessment of the piece of writing.
Bio: Jim Fuller is an accomplished teacher, trainer, and manager with extensive experience in the field of language education and language teacher education. “How to develop writing effectively”

Description: Contrary to what people believe, having a sound knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation rules is not sufficient to guarantee success when writing. Creative thinking and correct inner organization are also important in expressing a message in the written form. In the context of foreign language teaching it is often the language itself which presents a barrier in this aspect since it makes English teachers focus mostly on mechanical aspects of writing, and skipping in this way the major aim which is to achieve successful communication by means of the written text.
The challenge for the English teacher is to find ways to activate the dormant knowledge of the writing skill in students and assist them to proficiency.
We will take away a vast number of tips, ideas and models to teach this problematic process in our students.

Writing course 2024

Are you preparing students for Writing examinations? Do they sometimes find this skill difficult to master?

Join your trainer, in collaboration with Eurolingva Examinations Centre, at a two-day course for teachers of English, to find inspiration, new ideas and practical techniques to help you enhance the development of Writing skills in your language classroom.

The world is changing, and with it, the needs and requirements of written communication. How are we coping with the challenges of producing effective, well-written texts in everyday life, and how can we apply our experience to better outcomes in Writing examinations?

Teacher trainer and exam coursebook author Zoltán Rézműves will share with you over thirty years of experience in language education, so you can build his ideas into your own teaching practice and gain confidence in training students to do well in tests of their Writing skills.

I started out in English Language Teaching as a teacher in a Budapest secondary school in 1990. Between 1999 and 2011, I worked as an editor for Oxford University Press, then set up my own publishing services company, Consonant Kiadó and became a freelance author, teacher trainer and editor. Among numerous teacher’s books, practice and test materials, I also co-authored the coursebooks Oxford Exam Trainer B1 and B2 (OUP), Achieve (OUP) and Straight to Advanced (Macmillan) as well as a B2 exam preparation course for the telc exam in English. My teacher training and conference work has taken me to over 35 countries worldwide.

WhatsApp Image 2023-12-05 at 10.40.19De cinci ani, cursul pentru profesorii de limba engleză, organizat de Eurolingva Examinations Centre, a adus în fața dascălilor români traineri acreditați și experimentați, colaboratori ai renumitei organizații Pilgrims Teacher Training și autori de cărți de metodologie, formatori pasionați a căror misiune este aceea de a ajuta profesorii de limba engleză să se dezvolte constant.

Vara anului 2023 a marcat întâlnirea noastră în premieră cu formatorul internațional și autorul Chris Roland, ale cărui cărți se pot achiziționa și în România, și pe care îl puteți găsi cu ușurință și pe YouTube, unde își împărtășește ideile cu mult entuziasm.

WhatsApp Image 2023-12-05 at 10.38.18Vorbitor cunoscut în cadrul conferințelor de limba engleză la nivel internațional și formator cu multă experiența, cu un spirit inovator și carismatic, Chris a cucerit grupul de profesori adunat la Oradea pentru un curs de trei zile, abordând subiecte diverse, special gândite în colaborare cu Eurolingva, pentru a veni în sprijinul nevoilor și provocărilor specifice ale profesorilor din România.

Printre subiecte s-au numărat metode moderne de management al claselor de elevi adolescenți, creșterea motivației de a scrie în limba engleză prin metode interactive, pregătirea examenelor lingvistice utilizând o abordare umanistică, activități creative de speaking și multe altele (vezi mai jos programul complet).

WhatsApp Image 2023-12-05 at 10.39.37Nu e de mirare că profesorii participanți au îmbrățișat cu mult entuziasm metodele propuse de către trainer și au răspuns afirmativ provocării de a aduce un aer proaspăt în clase în acest an școlar, din dorința de a surprinde elevii cu noi activități creative și eficiente, care cresc nu numai interesul elevilor pentru orele de limba engleză, ci și performanțele lor viitoare.
Organizarea impecabilă pe care au asigurat-o colegii noștri de la Eurolingva, conținutul interesant al cursurilor și personalitatea efervescentă a formatorului, au făcut din acest eveniment unul de mare success! Experiența își spune într-adevăr cuvântul și de aceea ne angajăm ca pe viitor să aducem din nou traineri de mare calibru, care să poată oferi profesorilor noștri de limba engleză idei noi, inovatoare și ușor de aplicat la clasă.

La finalul celor trei zile de training, profesorii au primit o adeverință de participare și ne-au lăsat feedback în ceea ce privește experiența avută, pentru a ne ajuta să devenim mai buni! Împărtășim mai jos gândurile unora dintre participanți:

Unic în România, acest training accesibil în urmă cu câțiva ani doar în cadrul unui program de două săptămâni oferit de Pilgrims în Marea Britanie, vă așteaptă acum la doi pași distanță și la un preț mult mai accesibil!

„În primul rând vreau să vă mulțumesc foarte mult pentru că organizați cursurile Pilgrims și vă rog să nu renunțați la ele. Sunt super faine si folositoare, eu am învățat foarte multe lucruri si anul trecut si anul acesta. Chris nu e doar un bun profesionist, dar e si super amuzant. A fost o mare plăcere să îl ascult si să îl privesc. Pauzele au fost bine organizate, cu tot ce a fost nevoie, mâncarea la prânz a fost delicioasa! Colegele au fost super faine, chiar m-am simțit foarte bine atât la curs, cât după. În concluzie, Delia dragă, cursul își merită toți banii, chiar mai mult. Eu mă întorc la școala plină de entuziasm si cu multe idei noi. As a new school year was slowly approaching, I knew I needed a sort of update to my teaching methods and techniques. „Pe parcursul celor 3 zile pline de curs, dl profesor ne-a impartasit din experienta sa valoroasa numeroase metode, tehnici de lucru si idei extrem de practice. Ideile prezentate – simple insa nu simpliste, amuzante, cu recuzita sau fara – sunt pe deplin versatile si aplicabile tuturor ciclurilor de invatamant cu conditia ca profesorul sa le adapteze dupa varsta si particularitatile educabililor lui sau ei. In cele 3 zile de curs nu doar ca ne-am distrat punandu-ne nu odata ‘in pielea’ elevilor, intr-un efort constient si binevenit de a intelege cum se vad actiunile noastre la catedra de cealalta parte a ei, ci am impartasit din experientele personale, am ascultat povestile colegilor, am lucrat impreuna si am cautat raspunsuri proprii la intrebarile vechi de cand lumea ale oricarui dascal. … Dl profesor ne-a aratat cum sa gandim probleme vechi in moduri noi, ne-a incurajat sa punem si sa ne punem intrebari, ne-a implicat pe fiecare si ne-a ascultat fiecare interogare cu seriozitate si profesionalism, dar si cu vulnerabilitatea de a fi real si aproape ca un coleg, unul dintre noi. Am inteles inca odata ca pentru orice problema exista o solutie, ca noi dascalii ne confruntam cu aceleasi provocari peste tot, ca ceea ce ne uneste este mai puternic decat ce ne-ar putea diviza si ca la final, cand tragem linie si ne ingaduim un moment de reflectie, suntem privilegiati sa fim cei care raspundem la apelativul Teacher…… Multumim Eurolingva pentru inca un curs Pilgrims de excepție!” (Tabita G.).
